Sanjay: Immediately  sanction promised goodies to all eligible

Must read

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar appealed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to sanction Rythu Bharosa, Atmiya Bharosa, Indiramma houses and ration cards to all eligible beneficiaries in the state immediately. Sanjay sent a letter to the CM regarding this on Wednesday.
In his letter, Sanjay said that the government had announced that it is implementing Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Housing scheme, issuing new ration cards and the Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa from January 26. However, it is highly disappointing that not even three per cent of the eligible beneficiaries have received any of these benefits.
Sanjay said that the CM had promised to deposit Rs 20,000 crore annually in the accounts of 70 lakh farmers all over the state. As per the Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa scheme, the CM assured during public meetings that Rs 12,000 would be deposited in the bank accounts of 10 lakh landless agricultural labourers annually. The CM had also pledged to provide ration cards to 40 lakh new families
and supply them fine rice. The government had also announced that it would construct four lakh houses and that 3,500 houses would be allocated to every constituency and that Rythu Bharosa funds would be credited in farmers’ accounts by January-end, he said.
However, none of these promises have been fully implemented, Sanjay pointed out. He said that there are 12,991 Gram Panchayats in the state, and only 561 villages, that is one village in each mandal, have been selected for implementing these schemes which is shocking.
Of the 70 lakh eligible farmers, only 4,41,911 have received Rs 6,000 per acre, which is disheartening. Similarly, as per the Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa, despite promising financial assistance to 10 lakh landless labourer families, funds have been credited to only 20,336 accounts so far, leaving 9.79 lakh families without any support, he said.
Sanjay said the government had announced ration cards for 40 lakh families, but only 42,267 people have been identified so far. This means that 99% of eligible beneficiaries have not received ration cards. Similarly, out of over 70 lakh applications received for housing, around 40 lakh people were found eligible, that is, 10 lakh families in Greater Hyderabad and 30 lakh in other areas. However, only 72,406 people have been issued house allotment papers, which is shocking. Overall, it is disgraceful that only less than 3% of eligible beneficiaries have received any benefit under these four schemes, Sanjay said.

He said that in the early days after Independence, when Chief Ministers made promises, they were implemented as laws. However, it is deeply concerning that neither former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao nor you, as the current Chief Minister, have been able to fulfil promises. The stance you have taken on this matter is damaging the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office. If you, as the Chief Minister, cannot implement your own promises, how can officials working under your leadership be held accountable? The people of Telangana who trusted your assurances are now worried. The CM breaking his own promises undermines the trust the people of Telangana have placed in you, Sanjay said in his letter.
