Director Sankalp Reddy, known for his National Award-winning film Ghazi (2017), is set to begin shooting his new film with Gopichand. The film was officially launched on Monday with a puja ceremony, and production will commence soon.
Like his previous films, Sankalp is crafting this project as a period drama. He made a mark with Ghazi, a war film set in the sea, followed by Antariksham (2018), a space-based drama, and IB71, a Hindi spy thriller based on the 1971 Indian Airlines hijacking. His projects are known for their distinct and unconventional narratives.
This untitled film, produced by Chittoori Srinivas, aims to bring to life a forgotten chapter of Indian history. Set in the 7th century, the film explores an untold historical event with rich cultural depth and period-accurate details.
Gopichand will be seen in a never-before-seen role, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Sankalp, known for his technical brilliance, is assembling a skilled team to ensure high-quality visuals and production value.
“The shoot will start in Hyderabad, followed by a schedule in Kashmir,” Sankalp Reddy confirmed. The female lead is yet to be finalised, with casting expected to take place in May.
