As the Sankranti season approaches, the surge in passenger traffic at railway stations and onboard trains has resulted in a significant rise in footfall. To ensure smooth and efficient travel during this busy period, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has implemented a range of special crowd management measures at all major railway stations.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Saandeep emphasised the importance of these initiatives. “As the Sankranti season brings a substantial rise in passenger numbers, we are committed to ensuring a hassle-free and safe travel experience for all passengers. With the surge in demand, we have intensified our efforts to provide efficient services and maintain safety standards.”
In response to the higher traffic, additional ticket counters and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been installed at stations to ease ticketing processes. Along with these, dedicated enquiry counters have been set up to provide real-time assistance to passengers.
