A group of 100 sarpanches from Maharashtra on Tuesday visited Gajwel town and witnessed various developmental projects. They expressed the opinion that the Telangana State became a role model for the nation. The Gujarat State cannot be said to be a role model for the nation, they pointed out.
Gajwel Market Committee Chairman Madasu Srinivas and Municipal Chairman Rajamouli Gupta welcomed the Sarpanches group. As part of the visit, the sarpanches visited the integrated market development works in the town and felt that Telangana State should serve as a model for the whole nation.
Compared to the Telangana model of development, the Gujarat model was a total failure, they opined.
The State registered growth in terms of road development, forest development, providing drinking water and irrigation facility.
They said that Maharashtra needed a leader like Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The credit for developing villages and improving the wealth of the rural people goes to KCR, they said.
Madasu Srinvias explained the sarpanches the conditions that prevailed before statehood to Telangana and the rapid strides the State made after the formation of a separate State.
Gajwel market committee vice-chairman Jakhiuddin, market secretary Johnwesley and others were present.
