Jagan confident of favourable verdict

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed confidence in receiving a favourable order from the Supreme Court regarding the Amaravati issue. The farmers of Amaravati, meanwhile, are relying on the upcoming hearing in the Supreme Court, scheduled for Tuesday.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government had filed a special leave petition challenging the March 22 judgment of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which declared Amaravati as the sole capital of the State. The Supreme Court bench consisting of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Bela Trivedi will hear the petition on Tuesday, along with the petitions filed by the Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi and other individuals.
On March 27, a division bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justice KM Joseph and Justice BV Nagaratna, stated that the request would be heard alongside other petitions related to the issue on July 11. The bench declined to completely stay the High Court order, and Justice Joseph retired on June 16.
Sources indicate that the Jagan government is optimistic about receiving a favourable order from the Supreme Court due to its strong defense of the concept of three capitals.
The government has previously obtained favourable orders from the apex court, including the lifting of the deadline on constructions in Amaravati, the distribution of plots for the underprivileged in Residential Zone-5 (R-5), and the construction of houses.
“We are confident in receiving a favourable verdict based on the remarks made by the previous bench of the Supreme Court,” a government source stated.
Regardless, if there are indications of a delayed verdict, the Jagan government intends to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court informing them about the relocation of the Chief Minister’s camp office to Visakhapatnam.
“This decision is unrelated to the judgment, and the Chief Minister has the right to work from any place that is convenient for him,” sources clarified.
