There is a scam in the IDPL scrap deal and that machinery worth Rs 250 crore in 2018 was sold for Rs 67 crore this week, BRS leaders said.
“The Kuaktpally IDPL had a plant on 900 acres and a township on 300 acres. In 1997, the IDPL’s Kukatpally plant closed as it was suffering losses. The machinery is now totally rundown and machines which were valued at Rs 1,000 crore once were estimated to cost Rs 70 crore to favour the friend of a BJP leader,” TSTS Chairman and BRS social media convenor Jagan Mohan Rao Patimeedi said.
“Manager Ramakrishna Reddy estimated that the machinery costs Rs 70 crore. The machinery was imported from Russia at a cost of Rs 100 crore then. The IDPL plant has six major motors underground which can be repaired and used for irrigation projects. Apart from that IDPL has buses and trucks and lakhs of tonnes of steel and iron, reactors and kettles which can easily cost Rs 1,000 crore, IDPL employees and experts who worked there say. In 2018, General Manager Prabhu Lingam put the value at Rs 250 crore. After that tenders were not invited. In five years, the value came down to less than Rs 70 crore. They gave the tender to people who are close to the Centre,” he said.
“The Executive Manager is close to a BJP leader and has been pressuring the manager to reduce prices. There is involvement of a BJP leader from Kukatpally. An expert committee needs to be set up as the goods could cost around Rs 1,000 crore. This needs to be treated as a big scam,” Jagan said.
“The tender invitation process was not carried out transparently. It was done behind the scenes. They have to be recalled and the allotment must be cancelled,” he said.
