The South Central Railway has bagged All-India Performance Efficiency shields in two fields for last year. These shields will be presented by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, along with Raosaheb Danve, Minister of State for Railways and Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways, at functionto be held on December 15 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The shields will be received by General Manager, SCR and the Principal Heads of the Departments, SCR.
SCR has bagged two National performance efficiency shields viz., Civil Engineering Construction Shield and Civil Engineering Shield (Jointly with Northern Railway).
Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, congratulated the team of officials and staff for their contribution which led to SCR obtaining All-India Performance Efficiency shields in two disciplines. He advised the team to be more responsible and committed to further enhance the performance across the zone.
The Civil Engineering Construction shield is bagged only by the SCR. The zone has given prime importance to infrastructure addition to its rail network. In fact, the zone has scaled new heights in the last financial year 2022-23 by adding 383 kms to its rail network. This comprises 50 kms of new lines, 151 kms of double line and 182 kms of third line. More importantly, by giving boost to the last mile connectivity, several important projects have been totally completed like Bhadrachalam – Sattupalli new line, Devarkadra – Krishna new line, Gooty – Dharmavaram double line, Vijayawada – Gudivada – Bhimavaram – Narsapur; Gudivada – Machilipatnam & Nidadavolu – Bhimavaram double line.
The Civil Engineering shield is jointly bagged by the South Central Railway and the Northern Railway. To enhance safety in its operation, SCR has taken several initiatives in enhancing safety. Notable among them have been elimination of manned level-crossings (80 in 2022-23), increase in maximum permissible speed in GD-GQ routes and maintenance of the railway tracks.
