SCR gets highest-ever budget allocation of Rs 14,232.94 cr

South Central Railway (SCR) has been allotted its highest-ever budget allocation of Rs 14,232,94 crore when compared with Rs 13,786.19 crore during the year 2023-24. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR briefed the media on budget highlights during a press meet at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Friday.
Two new doubling projects and bypass lines for different stations have been sanctioned the details of which are – doubling project between Bhadrachalam Road – Dornakal for a distance of 54.65 km with an estimated cost of Rs 770.12 crore. Doubling project between Aurangabad – Ankai for a distance of 98.25 kms has been sanctioned with an estimated cost of Rs 960.64 crore while a bypass line has been sanctioned at Latur Road with an estimated cost of Rs 46.95 crore.
For new line projects, an allocation of Rs 1,184.14 crore has been made, compared to Rs 819.5 crore last year, i.e., an increase of 44 per cent. For doubling, third line and bypass line works, a capital outlay of Rs 2,905.91 crore has been allotted. For completion of remaining non-electrified sections of SCR, a budgetary grant of Rs 224.59 crore has been allotted. For customer amenities, a budgetary grant of Rs 790 crore has been allotted. For signal and telecommunication works, a budgetary grant of Rs 302.68 crore has been allotted, compared to Rs 174.02 crore last year i.e., an increase of 74 per cent. Important safety-related works include – Rs 891.4 crore towards road safety works (level-crossings, bridges, and ROB/RUB). This is 22 per cent more than Rs 730.63 crore allocated during the previous year while Rs 1,530 crore for track renewal works, which is 12 per cent more than the budgetary allocation of Rs 1,360 crore made during the previous year. An amount of Rs 41.94 crore has been allocated for the implementation of Kavach.
Also, Rs 50 crore has been allotted for the MMTS Phase II project. The project was sanctioned in the year 2012-13 with the sanctioned cost of Rs 817 crore. The sections completed to date are – Malkajgiri – Bolarum Double Line Electrification for 14 kms, Telapur – Ramachandrapuram for 6 kms, Medchal-Bolarum doubling for 14 kms, Moula Ali – Ghatkesar quadrupling for 12.2 kms and Falaknuma-Umdanagar doubling for 13.5 kms.
