Must read

In a heart-wrenching yet inspiring turn of events, the family of journalist Murali Krishna, who tragically passed away in a road accident, has donated his organs, saving the lives of four individuals. Murali Krishna (52), a seasoned journalist who worked for several newspapers in the Simhachalam area, lost control of his two-wheeler on December 14 after slipping on a speed breaker near the steel plant. Despite medical efforts, he was declared brain-dead on Tuesday.
The hospital’s medical team approached his grieving family, sensitising them about organ donation and its life-saving impact. Moved by the opportunity to help others, the family, including his wife, daughter, and son, gave their consent for organ donation. “It was a difficult decision, but we realised that by donating his organs, we could give hope and a new life to others,” said Murali Krishna’s son.
State Jeevan Daan Coordinator Dr. K Rambabu facilitated the process, granting the required permissions. The medical team successfully harvested Murali Krishna’s kidneys, liver, and heart, which were allocated to recipients based on the Jeevan Daan seniority list. “The family’s decision to donate his organs is an incredible act of humanity. It is an inspiring example for society,” said Dr. K Rambabu.
Visakhapatnam RDO, along with Dr. Rambabu, paid homage to Murali Krishna’s body on behalf of the state government and presented the family with a certificate of appreciation and Rs 10,000 for funeral expenses. “We are proud that my father’s sacrifice has brightened the lives of others. This is what he would have wanted,” added Murali Krishna’s daughter. Murali Krishna’s legacy extends beyond his journalistic contributions. His selfless act of organ donation has touched the lives of many and will continue to inspire the community for years to come.
