The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and Council are gearing up for their upcoming sessions starting on July 22. Legislative Council Chairperson Koyye Moshenu Raju and Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu have directed the police to implement stringent security measures to ensure the sessions proceed without incident. This decision was made during a meeting with police department officials at the state Legislative Assembly on Friday.
Chairperson Raju emphasised the need for robust security measures, especially with 88 newly elected legislators and several Legislative Council members attending. He stressed the importance of accurately identifying all attendees and ensuring the assembly premises remain secure. Officials have been instructed to ensure all security cameras are functioning correctly and to prevent unauthorized access to the premises, maintaining law and order throughout the sessions.
Raju also highlighted the necessity of providing amenities such as drinking water and food to the police officers and personnel from various districts who will be on duty during the sessions. He directed the police department to make comprehensive arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the meetings.
Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu echoed these sentiments, calling for extensive security measures to maintain peace and order during the sessions. He recalled past incidents where unauthoriszed individuals entered the galleries with placards, stressing the need for thorough checks to prevent such occurrences. Patrudu insisted that only those with proper identification be allowed inside the assembly premises. He also noted the requirement for special staff at the entrance gates to identify the newly elected legislators and Legislative Council members. Additionally, adequate facilities must be provided for police personnel and the media. Both leaders made it clear that security should not be compromised under any circumstances.
The meeting was attended by Assembly Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, Law and Order IG Srikanth, Guntur Range IG Sarvashrestha Tripathi, Guntur SP Satish Kumar, SPF SP M Shankar Rao, Guntur Additional SP Srinivasa Rao, Vijayawada DCP Chakravarthy, Secretariat Chief Security Officer K Krishnamurthy, Bhadraiah, and other police officers.
