The Rayalaseema Saguneeti Sadhana Samithi (RSSS) has appealed to Daggupati Purandeswari, the newly-appointed president of the Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to address the concerns of the Rayalaseema region.

The group specifically emphasised the establishment of the Andhra Pradesh State High Court Principal Seat in Kurnool, as outlined in the BJP’s Kurnool Declaration, and requested the cooperation of the central government.

In a letter sent on Thursday, RSSS president Bojja Dasaratha Rami Reddy highlighted the various issues faced by Rayalaseema and called for action.

Dasaratha Rami Reddy recalled the efforts of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who had a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the Rayalaseema region. He initiated and obtained administrative approvals for vital projects such as Telugu Ganga, Galeru Nagari, and Handri Niva, which play a crucial role in addressing the drinking water and irrigation needs of the Rayalaseema districts.

Dasaratha Rami Reddy expressed hope that Purandeswari, as the president of BJP in Andhra Pradesh, would actively engage the Union Government in addressing the issues faced by Rayalaseema, following in her father NTR’s footsteps.

The Rayalaseema Saguneeti Sadhana Samithi’s key demands include the establishment of the Andhra Pradesh State High Court Principal Seat in Kurnool, as per the BJP’s Kurnool Declaration.

They also call for the construction of the Siddeswaram Weir (replacing the proposed cable-stayed bridge at Sangameswaram on the Kalwakurthy Nandyala National Highway), the completion of the Gundrevula Reservoir as a national project (in accordance with the AP Reorganisation Act 2014), and the allocation of water saved by the Pattiseema project to Rayalaseema’s water initiatives (as per the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 and the proclamation made by the Chief Minister in the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly).

Additionally, the Rayalaseema Saguneeti Sadhana Samithi requests the development of projects to transfer Godavari water to the Nagarjuna Sagar Ayakattu, thus enabling the exclusive use of the Srisailam Reservoir for the needs of Rayalaseema, Nellore, Prakasam, and Mahabubnagar districts (as specified in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014). They also advocate for the establishment of a Railway Wagon Repair Unit in Kurnool (with the project’s foundation stone already laid in the former state of Andhra Pradesh) and the creation of a National Level Agricultural University in Rayalaseema (as mandated by the AP Reorganisation Act 2014).
