Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director Ashok Reddy inspected several areas under O&M Division 5 as part of a 90-day special drive to prevent sewage overflow and announced that sewage tunneling project will be completed soon.
He reviewed de-silting and tunneling works in Barkatpura, Bagh Lingampally, King Koti and Kachiguda and instructed the team to complete the projects quickly. The tunneling work in these areas involves 200 meters each in King Koti and Kachiguda, with another 200 meters planned for Basheerbagh.
During his visit to Satya Nagar and Achaiah Nagar on Thursday, Ashok Reddy emphasised the need to repair damaged manholes immediately. He pointed out that manholes constructed without proper precautions were causing blockages and instructed officials to propose permanent solutions within 20 days.
The MD also discussed the ongoing Sewerage Tunneling Project, which aims to divert sewage from Abids, Himayat Sagar and nearby areas to the Amberpet Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). He directed officials to speed up the completion of the remaining 0.6 km of the pipeline. This project, once complete, is expected to significantly reduce road damage and sewer complaints.
