Gunasekhar’s mythological drama Shaakuntalam, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and actor Dev Mohan, has been in the making for a long time. After multiple postponements, the makers of the film locked in a date to release the film in theatres. The movie’s producers have disclosed a new release date, which is 10 days after the film’s original scheduled release date. The film will now be released on April 14.

The whimsical love story is set in Dushyant’s Puru Dynasty’s Kashyapa Kanumalu (Kashmir). The legendary love story between King Dushyant from the Mahabharata and Shakuntala, who is represented by Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the mythical drama, is at the centre of the plot. With this movie, Arha, the daughter of Allu Arjun, will make her acting debut as Prince Bharata.
