Sharmila dons Cong robes : KHARGE, RAHUL WELCOME YSR’S DAUGHTER INTO THE PARTY

In a significant political development, YS Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, officially joined the Congress on Thursday in New Delhi. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikharjuna Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi, both of whom warmly welcomed Sharmila into the party by donning the Congress Party scarf.
As part of her entry into the Congress, Sharmila merged her YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) into the Congress, a move that has stirred discussions across Andhra Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. After joining the party, Sharmila sought the blessings of Sonia Gandhi, the former president of the Congress Party, during a meeting in New Delhi.
Sharmila, accompanied by her husband Anil Kumar, had flown to the capital city after meeting with her brother, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in Andhra Pradesh. The visit included a stop at Jagan’s residence in Tadepalli, where she extended an invitation for her son’s engagement.
