YSRTP President YS Sharmila may merge her party with the Congress before August-end. According to sources, TPCC President Revanth Reddy, who has been opposing the entry of Sharmila into the Congress, changed his mind regarding her entry.

Revanth is now convinced by the argument of the high command regarding Sharmila’s entry into the Congress, it is learnt. Revanth’s contention was that Sharmila’s entry may trouble the party due to her Rayalaseema background.

However, TPCC Star Campaigner Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy invited her into the party saying that if the BRS chief can go across the nation, what is wrong if Sharmila comes to Telangana.

On the other hand, former MLA Jayasudha’s entry into the BJP also made Telangana Congress leaders understand the reality, it is learnt.

It is also learnt that some pro-Sharmila leaders argued with those opposing Sharmila’s entry that when there is nothing wrong in the BRS fielding Andhra-origin leaders like Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, Sherilingampalli MLA Arikepudi Gandhi then what is wrong if the Congress fielded Sharmila in Telangana.

It is learnt that clarity regarding Sharmila’s entry into the Congress will come in a day or two.

In fact, it is learnt that Sharmila is interested in contesting from Palair. But Congress may field her from Secunderabad as the BJP is thinking of fielding Jayasudha from Secunderabad. Jayasudha had become an MLA from Secunderabad earlier.
