The anticipation is high as Tollywood gears up for the grand release of Sharwanand’s much-awaited 35th film, Manamey. Starring Kriti Shetty and Sharwanand in lead roles, the film promises to deliver a riveting performance in this family-centric flick directed by the visionary Sriram Aditya. Produced under the banner of Ramsay Studios in collaboration with People Media Factory, Manamey has already stirred a frenzy with its captivating songs, teaser, and promotional content, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its theatrical release on June 7. Ahead of the film’s release, director Sriram Aditya shed light on the film’s unique features and the challenges encountered during its making with us.
If you have watched the trailer, you might already have an idea of what this film is all about. Addressing the genesis of the storyline, Sriram Aditya expressed his long-standing desire to explore the theme of parenting in a refreshing manner. He remarked, “There has always been an idea to talk about the parenting emotion in a slightly different way. My intention is to portray it with fun and energy, tapping into the unknown innocence associated with children.”
Reflecting on his personal connection to the narrative, Aditya revealed, “I am very attached to my parents. After the birth of my son, that attachment increased even more.” He also admitted that several dialogues in the trailer were inspired by real-life experiences, adding a layer of authenticity to the storytelling process. Undoubtedly, filming in London presented its own set of challenges, with unpredictable weather conditions testing the resilience of the crew. Aditya elaborated, “Shooting in London with a crew of sixty people is a tough task. The climate there is unpredictable, often disrupting our shooting schedules.”
The decision to shoot in London was driven by the desire to infuse the film with a fairy tale-like aesthetic. Aditya credited the unwavering support of People Media Factory and producer Vishwa Prasad for ensuring a smooth production process despite logistical challenges. Sharing insights into Sharwanand’s involvement, Aditya recalled the actor’s enthusiastic response upon hearing the script. “As soon as he heard the story, he said, ‘Let’s do it properly,’” Aditya revealed. However, he remained tight-lipped about the specifics of Sharwanand’s character, teasing the audience with hints of an electrifying performance.
Breaking away from his usual crime thriller repertoire, Aditya expressed his fondness for humor and the joy of exploring a different genre. With Manamey boasting a total of 16 songs, Aditya assured fans that each musical piece would seamlessly integrate into the narrative, enhancing the overall cinematic experience.
While remaining coy about certain plot details, Aditya hinted at the dynamic chemistry between Sharwanand and Kriti Shetty, likening their on-screen relationship to the playful banter of Tom and Jerry. Looking ahead, Aditya teased an upcoming action-comedy project, promising another exciting cinematic venture for audiences to anticipate.
