Siasat Editor Zaheeruddin dies of cardiac arrest during Gaddar’s funeral

Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu daily, Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, (63), died during the funeral of Balladeer Gaddar on Monday at Bhudevi Nagar in Alwal near Gaddar’s residence.

Zaheeruddin Ali fell ill and immediately suffered a cardiac arrest due to the stampede that took place after the police lathi-charge. The police conducted a lathi-charge to control the fans and followers of Gaddar who tried to follow the vehicle carrying Gaddar’s body, while it was entering the Bhudevi Nagar Colony where Gaddar’s residence is located.

The police conducted the lathi-charge as the CM was coming to pay tributes to Gaddar at the singer’s residence.

Zaheeruddin was rushed to the Russh Super Speciality Hospital at Suchitra Circle where doctors declared him brought dead. Zaheeruddin and Gaddar were close friends and both have shared the dais on many occasions.

The role played by Zaheeruddin Ali Khan in the social movement with a progressive ideology is commendable. He was an activist who fought tirelessly in the final phase of the Telangana movement and also provided financial support to many poor Muslim families through the Siasat Trust.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao condoled Siasat Urdu Daily Managing Editor Zaheeruddin Ali Khan. He said the death of Zaheeruddin is an irreparable loss to Urdu journalism.

The Chief Minister recollected his association with Zaheeruddin Ali Khan and the latter’s role during the Telangana movement as a News Editor.

KCR conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

The IJU and TUWJ leaders, K. Srinivas Reddy, Y. Narender Reddy, Nagunuri Shekar and Virahat Ali conveyed their condolences to the family of Zaheeruddin Ali Khan.
