Six more Cooperative Bank branches would be opened in the undivided Nalgonda district, according to Minister for Energy G Jagaadish Reddy on Wednesday.
Speaking at a meeting, shortly after inaugurating the Cooperative Bank branch at Chityal in the district, the cooperative sector too witnessed development under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The State made rapid strides in development in all sectors, he said.
Speaking to the media, there were very few cooperative bank branches which can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The cooperative sector services became crucial for the growth of the agriculture sector. In the new State of Telangana, the Cooperative banks were extending satisfactory services to farmers, he said. Apart from selling quality seeds and fertiliser, the cooperative banks were also playing a key role in the purchase of paddy. He exhorted the farmers to become members of the cooperative banks.
District Cooperative Central Bank chairman Gongidi Mahender Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairman Banda Narender Reddy, Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah and others were present.
