Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy alleged that the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) accident is former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s sin. This accident took place because there was no work in the tunnel for the last 10 years. The 30-kilometer tunnel was completed during the Congress regime and machine bearings were destroyed because no work was done in between.
CM alleged that KCR kept the SLBC tunnel works aside thinking that he would not get ‘Commissions’ resulting in this tragedy because all the machines were rusting.
CM alleged that the SLBC works did not take place for the last 10 years. KCR did not take up SLBC works thinking that the Congress would get a name and fame if SLBC is completed. The SLBC works resumed after Congress came to power.
The Chief Minister said, “We will complete SLBC 100% no matter how many obstacles we face. If the project is completed within Rs.5000 crores, including the increased estimates of SLBC, 3.5 lakh acres will get water”.
CM said that the government is trying to protect the workers trapped in the SLBC tunnel. 11 companies are working on SLBC rescue operations now. The accident occurred at the tunnel. However, the Kaleshwaram incident is a bad incident that occurred due to defective design and construction.
CM said, “The ministers in my cabinet have complete freedom. All are experienced and are working effectively in their
departments. My governance is wonderful. I am giving them the freedom to speak on anyone’s phone. The states should get the same share as the taxes we pay to the centre”.
