Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced on Saturday that the slot booking system introduced in the Stamps and Registration Department will be extended to all Sub-Registrar offices in Telangana from June 2.
After the success of the two pilot phases covering 47 locations, the scheme will now be implemented in the remaining 97 offices.
He said the scheme, aimed at ensuring transparency, reducing corruption, and saving time for property buyers and sellers, has received an overwhelming response.
“Over 36,000 registrations have been completed so far, and 94 per cent of users reported satisfaction,” he said, adding that instructions have been given to make arrangements for the next phase.
From June 2, citizens can book slots in two shifts, between 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm. Once a slot is booked, transaction details will be made available via the department’s online portal.
Ponguleti said that nine locations with high workload – Pathancheru, Yadagirigutta, Gandipet, Ibrahimpatnam, Suryapet, Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy and Gadwal –will receive additional Sub-Registrars and staff.
A new portal, modelled on Bhuharathi, has been developed to digitally track prohibited properties. Details of such assets will be uploaded to prevent their registration.
“If any such property is registered, alerts will instantly appear at the central office in Hyderabad. Strong action will be taken against erring officials,” he warned.
He also said that a recruitment exam for appointing one revenue officer per village would be conducted on Sunday in all 33 districts under JNTU supervision. Around 5,000 candidates are expected to appear for this.
He criticised the BRS government for abolishing the VRO and VRA systems, which, he said, had distanced revenue services from the rural population.
“We are taking steps to restore the rural revenue framework. Those who earlier worked as VROs and VRAs and are interested have applied and will be appearing for this exam. We will make their services available,” he said.
Ponguleti said that these reforms in the Registration Department will not only enhance efficiency and transparency but also ensure that governance reaches every doorstep.
