Must read

In a bid to make a fast buck, a person took up the cultivation of marijuana plants on the roof of his house but eventually landed behind bars.
Palliboyina Kumar (60), a resident of Shivnagar in Warangal, started growing marijuana plants on his rooftop in flower pots as part of a home industry to make quick money.
The detection of marijuana plants on the rooftop happened in a most dramatic way. According to sources, a sniffer dog was deployed for an inspection at the railway station. The police intended to search for marijuana and other drugs. However, things took an unexpected turn. While the police were focusing on their task, the sniffer dog suddenly bolted out of the station and ran towards a house nearby. It climbed the stairs to the house, and the police, initially confused, started following the dog.
The dog led them to a place near some flower pots on the roof of the house, where it sniffed around. To the police’s surprise, they discovered that the homeowner was secretly growing marijuana plants in the flower pots. The police immediately took the house owner, Kumar, into custody and seized the plants. Upon questioning, Kumar revealed that he had been growing the marijuana plants for personal use and to make quick money.
The police arrested Kumar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. They also urged citizens to report any information about the sale, use, or transport of drugs in the city, assuring that the informants’ identities would remain confidential.
As part of an ongoing effort to control narcotic substances in the Warangal Police Commissionerate area, Warangal Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha directed the Anti-Drugs Team, led by police officers from the Intezar Ganj Police Station, to carry out inspections at the Railway Station. During these checks, police dogs were used to examine the bags and belongings of suspicious passengers. While interacting with the passengers, the Anti-Drugs Team Incharge Inspector Suresh urged the public to report any illegal activities related to narcotics like cannabis to the helpline number 8712584473.
He assured that the identities of informants would remain confidential.
The operation was led by Anti-Drugs Team Inspectors J Suresh, Reserve Inspector Shiva Keshavulu, Reserve Sub-Inspector Purna Chandra Reddy, Sub-Inspector Chand Pasha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sambayya, and other staff members.
