Social audit in villages across AP: Dy CM

After assuming the charge as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Forests, Pawan Kalyan instructed the officials concerned to carry out Social audits in all villages across the state.
During the review meeting with the officials of the Social Audit (Social Audit) Department of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at the Vijayawada Camp Office on Thursday, Pawan Kalyan said Employment guarantee funds should be utilised for the needy public without misuse.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed delight over the allotment of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Forests departments which are his interests and further said that this opportunity is giving him a chance to work towards environmental protection.
The Minister ordered a social audit in the villages in 26 districts of the AP State without fail. He discussed the process of social audit thoroughly in the review meeting which lasted for about two and a half hours. The officials explained to Pawan Kalyan the manner of Social Audit of the Employment Guarantee Scheme and the method of identifying the misappropriation of funds.  The officials explained the details to the minister regarding social audit meetings, the works done under the scope of employment schemes at the field level, their details, the progress of the employment guarantee works, the extent to which the funds have been utilized and the cases related to violations.
He said that the funds in the employment guarantee scheme are utilized effectively otherwise the officials should be responsible for any violations and funds misuse. He instructed the officials to submit details about how the employment guarantee scheme can be used for rural development more broadly.  He also directed that employment guarantee funds should be monitored from time to time so that they are not misused.
