The sleuths of the Balanagar Zone Special Operations Team (SOT), and Jeedimetla Police apprehended two interstate drug peddlers for allegedly transporting ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra. The police seized 400 kg ganja, a truck and two mobile phones all valued at around Rs 1 crore.
The arrested suspects are Bablu Khare alias Krishna, the driver of the truck and Govind Patidar, a farmer from Maharashtra. Orissa resident Bablu and Maharashtra resident Aravind are absconding.
The police said that Bablu Khare and Govind Patidar hail from Madhya Pradesh and that both are truck drivers known to each other for many years.
As both the accused were not getting sufficient income they planned to make money by transporting banned narcotic drugs like ganja and other chemicals on their vehicle.
Recently, the accused Bablu, who was dealing with ganja came into contact with them and asked them to transport ganja from the Rajahmundry area to Lathur and hand it over to one Aravind of Lathur.
As part of their business, they used to go to Rajahmundry, Odisha and other states. On December 14 the labourers loaded 40 sealed bundles containing 400 kg ganja on the outskirts of Rajahmundry and covered them with plants.
Both the suspects, Bablu Khare and Govind Patidar, left the place on December 15. While they were transporting the ganja in their vehicle, the SOT Balanagar and the Jeedimetla Police intercepted the vehicle, arrested both and seized 400 kg of ganja, a truck and two mobile phones.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohany requested the public to inform the police of any information they may get about dry ganja suppliers through Dial 100 or the Cyberabad NDPS Enforcement Cell 7901105423 or the Cyberabad WhatsApp number 9490617444.
The identity of the caller will be kept confidential.
