Southern States join forces to combat cybercrime

In a significant step toward strengthening cybersecurity in southern India, the Telangana Police hosted the Regional Quarterly Meeting of the Southern State DGsP Coordination Conference. The meeting brought together senior officers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Puducherry, with a focused agenda to bolster inter-state coordination against the rising tide of cybercrime.

Presided over by Telangana DGP Dr Jitender, said the meeting aimed at creating a united front to enhance digital security frameworks and foster collective expertise.

“Our combined efforts can create a safer digital ecosystem for our region,” Dr Jitender added.

Deliberations included strategies for improved collaboration across cybercrime units of each State, with particular focus on faster investigations, intelligence sharing and reducing delays in delivering justice to victims. The forum also addressed the growing misuse of cryptocurrency in cyber offences and the need for updated investigative tools and methodologies.

Shikha Goel, Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and DG CID, emphasised the role of Artificial Intelligence in disrupting cybercrime networks. “We must share actionable intelligence to stay ahead of emerging threats,” she stated.
