Superintendent of Police Malika Garg has asked the people to be careful of Bitcoin and CryptoCurrency crimes.
In a statement here on Sunday, the SP advised people to be alert to cyber frauds targeting businessmen, real estate and IT professionals by sending WhatsApp group links and asking them to invest in the name of Bitcoins and CryptoCurrency.
“The fraudsters cheat people by making them invest lakhs of rupees in a fake site by using virtual accounts to attract people and rob them of crores by claiming that they will give more profits with less investment,” she said.
SP Malika Garg said that the fraudsters send fake links on WhatsApp saying that they would give more profits with less investment and open them first, they are already chatting with the members of the group, they show them to invest in the created Bitcoin website.
They post fake online payments screenshots that they had invested and make all believe that they had received about 10 percent profit within two or three days of the investment. The fraudsters show the money in virtual accounts but at the same time they make arrangements that the investors could not withdraw the money by not giving such an option to them.
The SP asked people not to click the links of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and do not believe the message of earning huge amounts with less investment. If the links sent by them are clicked they steal the data, she said. SP Maliga Garg asked people to complain to 1930 or call to cybercrime reporting portal www.cybercrime.gov.in.
