Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, has announced plans to expand the Narsipatnam NTR Government Hospital from its current capacity of 150 to 200 beds. This expansion aims to address the growing healthcare needs of the community.
The announcement was made during a development committee meeting held at the hospital. “We are working diligently to secure the required permissions for expanding the hospital to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services in the region,” said Ayyanna Patrudu. He also expressed strong support for fundraising initiatives, urging the committee to meet monthly to track progress. “We must come together to raise funds for improving this hospital and its services.”
Several key decisions were made during the meeting to improve the hospital’s infrastructure and patient care. A solar system will be installed in the newly constructed building to ensure sustainable operations. Besides, Rs 15 lakh has been allocated for the renovation of the hospital’s ambulance and doctors’ quarters. Addressing concerns raised by doctors about the lack of a CT scan machine, Ayyanna Patrudu assured them of his commitment to securing the necessary funds. “I will work towards obtaining the funds for the CT scan, with support from NRIs and government channels,” he stated. To enhance patient experience, fresh coloured bed sheets will be provided daily, and the Anna Canteen will now serve two meals and morning tiffin to patients and their attendants.
Ayyanna Patrudu also acknowledged the support of Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to develop both Narsipatnam and Anakapalle hospitals through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grants.
