Zilla Parishad High School, Nunna, has secured second place in the State and first place in NTR district in the School of Sports Excellence Awards (Kreeda Prathibha Awards).
The Inspector of Physical Education (IPE) and Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), G Bhanumurthy Raju, announced the Kreeda Prathibha Awards, exclusively presented to schools excelling in sports in Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday. “The initiative aims to recognise and encourage the students who participate in sports, as well as the physical directors and teachers who train them,” he said.
On the occasion of National Sports Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Hockey Wizard Major Dhyan Chand, IPE Bhanumurthy Raju, along with NTR District School Education Officer (DSEO) UV Subba Rao and Assistant Director KVN Kumar, presented the awards to Zilla Parishad High School, Nunna, at the DSEO office on Thursday.
School HM Vajrala Bhupal Reddy and Physical Directors T Vijaya Verma and T Sreelatha were honoured on the occasion. Besides, awards were presented to Patamata KBCZP High School for Boys, Patama, which secured second place in the district, STVR VMC School (third place), SKPVV Hindu High School, Kothapeta, (fourth place), and ZP High School, Nidamanuru (fifth place).
Bhanumurthy Raju emphasised the pride and recognition that come with sports achievements, extending to families, villages, districts, States, and the country. He acknowledged the contributions of teachers and donors. He also voiced concern over India’s performance in Olympics, noting the need for more focus on sports to improve the country’s performance.
DSEO UV Subba Rao praised Nunna High School for its achievements and encouraged other schools to use it as a model for striving for excellence. Plans were made to organise more prominent sports events in the coming year to further promote sports culture.
