The Gandhi Hospital administration on Monday filed a complaint against a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) member Harish Reddy for sharing a seven year old video claiming that a power cut in the hospital led to the death of a patient.
Gandhi Hospital Superintendent , Dr Raja Rao said, “The video which is circulating is seven year old. I looked at the video and could make out that the wards shown in it don’t belong to the Hospital. This is a public hospital and when such videos are circulated, the common people are hesitant to visit the government hospital. Hence I filed a complaint against the man.”
In a letter to the Chilkalguda police, the hospital authorities said, “The video is seven years old . It has been posted on X in an attempt to tarnish the image of Gandhi Hospital. Moreover, such a manipulated tweet creates a fear among patients of the Gandhi Hospital. It is was done with a malafide intention towards a public healthcare institution providing free healthcare to patients.”
The authorities further said, “The video is from a news article published by NTV titled “Child dies due to power cut at Gandhi hospital. Due to power cut.” The wards shown in the video seem to be fabricated and the genuinity of the video can’t be proved.“
Following the complaint, the Chilkalguda police registered a case under section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code
