Sridhar Babu inspects Yellampalli project

Minister for IT D Sridhar Babu on Tuesday evening inspected the swollen SripadaYellampalli Project, in the district along with Ramagundam MLA Raj Thakur Makhan Singh, Peddapalli Collector Koya Sriharsha, Mancherial Collector Deepak Kumar.
He appealed to the people living in inundated villages to remain alert and maintained that the government has been taking special measures to rule out any problems due to the floods triggered by rains.
The Minister noted that the Yellampalli Project is brimming with water following heavy inflows into the project from the upper reaches of the project. He directed Peddapalli Collector Koya Sriharsha and Mancherial Collector Deepak Kumar to take all measures to ensure that people do not face any problem.
He sought information on outflow and inflow of water into the project.
The authorities have lifted 33 gates of the project to discharge heavy inflows into the reservoir from SRSP and Kadem projects, the minister said, asking the police, municipal and irrigation department officials to work with coordination in case of heavy inflows into the irrigation projects in the district.
Meanwhile, the Minister has been monitoring the flood situation in the district on an hourly basis. The people living in catchment areas of River Godavari are living in the grip of fear. Several villages have been marooned in the district.
The officials have been discharging 6 lakh cusecs of water lifting 33 gates of Yellampalli project. They are also supply 331 cusecs to HMWSSB in Hyderabad to quench the thirst of people of Hyderabad.
The people living in Peddapalli, Mancherial, Asifabad, Bhupalapalli and Kothagudem districts in the coal blet area are in the grip of fear.
