The State ST Commission has promised to extend all help to Mota Naveen who was severely thrashed and forced to drink urine by some persons.
State ST Commission member V Shankar Naik met Mota Naveen on Thursday.
SP Malika Garg explained about the heinous incident to the ST Commission member in the R&B guest house on Thursday. Shankar Naik consoled victim Naveen and his family members and assured him of getting the culprits punished.
The SP told the ST Commission member Shankar Naik that cases under Section 307 were registered against the accused besides cases under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act were also registered against the nine accused who thrashed Naveen and urinated upon him.
The SP informed him that nine accused have been arrested and three more accused are yet to be arrested. The SP told him that efforts are being made to extend financial help to the victim under the SC/ST Act.
The ST Commission member Shankar Naik told the media that on June 19, 2023, an attack took place on tribal youth Naveen and the accused urinated upon him. The government has taken the incident seriously.
He said that the Commission has asked the DIG and the SP to take stringent steps to ensure that all the accused are punished rigorously by the court. Steps are being taken to ensure that such heinous crimes do not recur again on tribal people in the future. ASP Nageswara Rao, Tribal welfare officer Varalakshmi and DSP Narayana Swamy Reddy were among those who accompanied the ST Commission member.
