Member Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology (APCOST), Dr Y Aparna, has stated that the 31st State-level National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) will be held at KL University in Vaddeswaram in Guntur district on November 29 and 30.
Dr Aparna told the media on Tuesday that KL University was all set to host the two-day Science Congress. As many as 500 children, guides, escort teachers, district coordinators and academic coordinators will attend the event. At the district-level, more than 4,000 science projects were showcased in all 26 districts. Of them, 182 projects have been selected for the State-level competition, she added.
From the State, as many as 17 science projects will be selected to be presented at the National Children’s Science Congress. The jury will select a project from each district, which would be sent to the KVR Scientific Society for Evaluation, she said.
She explained that NCSC was conducted every year on a specific focal theme. ‘Local for Global’ is this year’s theme. For the benefit of the students, the main theme was divided into five sub-themes — ‘Know Your Environment’, ‘Improve Health, Nurture and Welfare’, ‘Society and Culture Systems for Healthy Environment’, ‘An Ecosystem-based Approach to Self-confidence’ and ‘Technological Innovation for Ecosystem and Health’.
Minister for Energy, Environment, Forests, and Science & Technology Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy will inaugurate the two-day State-level National Children’s Science Congress. Several ministers and officials will attend the function, she said.
