Steps in place for pension disbursal in Eluru today

All arrangements have been made to disburse NTR Bharosa social security pensions to over 2.68 lakh beneficiaries in the district.
District Collector K Vetri Selvi told the media here on Sunday that the pension disbursement would begin at 6 am in the district on July 1. “All arrangements have been made to disburse social security pensions to 2,68,353 beneficiaries. A total amount of Rs 182.73 crore will be disbursed to the beneficiaries in the district,” the Collector said.
She said that efforts are being made to achieve 100 per cent pension disbursement on July 1 itself. The village and ward secretariat staff would hand over the pensions to the beneficiaries at their homes. Each staff disburse a pension to 50 beneficiaries.
As many as 4,539 secretariat staff and 826 government employees, belonging to various departments, would be assigned the task of disbursement of pensions, the Collector explained, stating that the pension amount has already been withdrawn from banks.
 A special focus has been laid on the tribal areas to disburse pensions. “Along with the pension amount, a receipt and the Chief Minister’s message to the beneficiaries will also be handed over to the beneficiaries,” the Collector stated.
The eligible elderly people, widows, lonely women, differently-abled people, cobblers and artists would be extended a total amount of Rs 7,000 which includes Rs 4000 monthly pension and Rs 3000 dues of previous months. The pension was hiked from Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 for those who are suffering from multi-deformity and leprosy, Collector Vetri Selvi said. District Rural Development PD R Vijay Raju and DPO TSrinivas Viswanath were among those who were present.
