Steps taken to check exodus of labourers from Prakasam

Minister for Social Welfare Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy has confirmed that measures have been implemented to curb the exodus of labourers from Prakasam district who are seeking livelihood opportunities in other states.
A programme was organised here on Sunday to mark the 56th formation day of Prakasam district. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Balaveeranjaneya Swamy stated that the government is focused on generating local job opportunities as part of efforts to stem the migration from the district to neighbouring states. He emphasised that a renewable energy industry is being set up in Kanigiri, along with a leather park in Giddalur.
“Kandukur constituency, where Ramayapatnam Port and Horticulture University are located, will soon be merged with Prakasam district. The Bharat Petroleum Refinery Unit will also commence operations soon. There is a possibility of tobacco-related industries being established in the district,” he said, adding that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had discussed these initiatives with industrialists during his visit to Davos.
The Minister also reiterated his commitment to expediting the completion of the Veligonda project to provide water for irrigation and drinking purposes. He assured that check dams would be constructed where necessary to ensure efficient water utilisation, and highlighted that interlinking rivers in the state remains a priority.
Acknowledging the upcoming infrastructural developments, the Minister announced that work on the four-lane road from Beistavaripet to Ongole will begin this year. He further noted that the state government will actively encourage the tourism, aqua, and granite industries in the district.
“Chief Minister Naidu has also prioritised the development of Prakasam University and Ongole Dairy. Along with the establishment of an airport in Ongole, small and micro industries will be further promoted. Prakasam district will be comprehensively developed by leveraging its geographical and human resources,” the Minister affirmed.
Collector A. Thameem Ansariya stated that the district would be developed in line with the ten principles outlined by the state government in Vision-2047. She noted that Prakasam is the largest district in the state geographically, and efforts are underway to ensure it ranks high in development. “The district vision document has been prepared with this goal in mind,” she confirmed.
MLAs Damacharla Janardhan Rao, BN Vijay Kumar, Maritime Board chairman Damacharla Satyanarayana, Tourism Corporation chairman Nukasani Balaji, Mala Finance Corporation chairman P. Vijay Kumar, and State Agriculture Corporation vice-chairman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy also addressed the gathering. Earlier, they garlanded the statue of freedom fighter Tangutur Prakasam Pantulu
