Steps taken to mitigate cyclone impact: Minister

Minister for Municipal Administration Audimulapu Suresh has reiterated that all steps were taken to tackle the cyclone impact efficiently and assured of extending all help to the farmers.
The Minister, along with special officer PS Pradyumna and Collector AS Dinesh Kumar, visited a relief camp set up on the premises of Sathya Sai school on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Audimulapu Suresh asked the officials of the Revenue, Municipal, SW, R&B, Panchayat Raj, Electricity, Irrigation, Civil Supply, and the Police to work in coordination.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered the officials concerned to focus on providing satisfactory services to all the victims, he recalled.
“After the impact of the storm subsides, the crop damage will be assessed. The government will support all the affected farmers. The government provides compensation in the same season itself for the crops that have been damaged,” the Minister made it clear.
Special Officer Pradyumna said that people in the affected areas have been shifted to the rehabilitation centers in advance. He suggested that people should also fully cooperate with the authorities. The administration has taken necessary measures depending on the situation; he said adding that the details are being known from the field level from time to time.
Collector AS Dinesh Kumar said that official machinery had taken relief operations to full level and the people living in vulnerable places had been put on alert.  Those living in huts and dilapidated houses were shifted to the relief camps and food and drinking water were being provided to them.
Tahasildar and EOPD level officers were appointed as in-charges to the relief camps, he added.
SP Malika Garg said that steps were taken to remove uprooted trees from the road. The marine and R&B teams were kept ready to swing into action if needed.
