In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) Central Team seized 23 kg of hashish oil in Maradapalli village under Pedabayalu mandal, within the limits of Paderu SHO. Preliminary investigation revealed that the contraband was being supplied from neighbouring Odisha State.
A total of six persons are believed to be involved in the smuggling network. Of them, three have been arrested — Vantala Mahesh, a habitual offender previously booked under Cr No 188/21 of V Madugula PS along with Chinna Rao and supplier Kurra Dasu. Efforts are underway to apprehend two more suppliers from Odisha and a local receiver from Alluri Sitarama Raju district.
