The Foundation stone was laid on Sunday for the construction of a high-level bridge across the Madras canal at Kommamoor at a cost of Rs 42.75 crore.

The bridge across the Madras canal on the Guntur-Chirala road will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 42.75 crore. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kilari Rosaiah said that it is a happy occasion for all as the high-level bridge is being constructed across Mommamooru/Madras canal which has 100 years old history. If the bridge is constructed, it would ease the travel towards Bapatla and Repalle.

The MLA said that the people are observing the development of the constituency under the rule of the Chief Minister of the State YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that public money was misused without any development during the previous TDP government.

The MLA said that many development works are going on in the Ponnur constituency at present. “So far Rs 1600 crore has been spent in Ponnur constituency for carrying out various development works and also for the implementation of various welfare schemes,” the MLA stated.

Kilaru Venkata Rosaiah said that the construction of Autonagar was also taken up in Ponnur and all the development works would change the face of Ponnuru, he claimed. R&B EE Samarpana Rao, DE Nageswara Rao, AE Rambabu, and constituency observer Annabattuni Sadasiva Rao were among those who were present.
