YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has flayed the coalition government for its neglect of all sectors and not paying the fee reimbursement, which has badly affected the students.
Taking to X, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the coalition is playing with the lives of students and fees reimbursement was not paid for the last three quarters forcing the students to quit education. “I am deeply saddened by the news that a student of J Panguluru of Ongole district has turned into a labourer as he was unable to pay the fee.
“As soon as Chandrababu Naidu took office, all sectors appear to have taken the regressive path. Prominently the education sector is badly hit with Amma Vodi, English medium, Tofel from third standard, subject teachers, CBSE to IB, tabs to Class VIII students, Byju’s content, Nadu Nedu and many more being abolished badly affecting the students and their parents. Vasathi Deevena, Vidya Deevena were stopped, and students of professional courses are being deeply troubled,” he alleged.
“During the YSRCP term, we used to deposit money into mothers’ accounts quarterly. During the previous academic year till December Rs 12,609 crore was deposited for Vidya Devena itself. As we believe that only education can change the fate of generations, we have spent Rs 18,000 crore on the two schemes,” the former CM said.
He added that due to election code, the amount for the January-March quarter could not be paid as the coalition raised an objection with the Election Commission. “The coalition did not pay after assuming office in June. From then on, they did not pay any amount. Vasathi Deevena also has met the same fate. Thereafter there has been no response for the April-June and July-September quarters. Now, the October-December quarter is also coming to a close. With this an amount of Rs 2,800 crores is due as fees reimbursement. For Vasathi Devena Rs 1,100 crore is due for hostel fee which is also pending. The total amount due by December would touch Rs 3,900 crores. But this government is high on talk and nil on deeds.
“For those who completed their studies, they are not getting certificates until they clear the dues. About 11 lakh students are affected by the neglect of the coalition government forcing the parents to go for loans or sell their properties. If they have no resources, they are sending their children to work. This is the situation in the State which was once an education hub.
“After this government assumed office there have been scams in sand, liquor besides gambling dens being opened, mafia dealings and medical colleges and ports are being privatized but there is no concern for education. We demand that Ammaku Vandanam, fees reimbursement along with Vasathi Devena dues to be released immediately. We condemn the negligence of Chandrababu which is adversely affecting the students,” he said in the post.
