Sub-plan funds not diverted: State SC panel

State SC Commission member Chellam Anand Prakash made it clear that the SC sub-plan funds were not diverted to other purposes nor misused. Talking to the newsmen here Monday, he dared to resign his post and quit politics if the allegations were proved.

He said that some people were spreading misinformation that the SC sub-plan funds had been misappropriated and misused. He clarified that the state government has allocated more than Rs 18,000 crore rupees in the current financial year for the welfare of scheduled castes.

Anand Prakash said that the erstwhile TDP government hardly spent even Rs 5000 crore for the welfare of Scheduled Castes. The credit for providing these funds for the development and welfare of every eligible Scheduled Caste should go to the Chief Minister of the state YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Those who are unable to digest the development being achieved by the government and implementing various schemes for the welfare SCs were making baseless allegations. Anand Prakash recalled that the SC Commission is a Constitutional entity and it works for the welfare of SCs.

The SC Commission would not tolerate and keep quiet if the SC sub-plan funds were either diverted or misused, he informed.He explained that over 30 lakh houses were being built under the Navaratnalu scheme of houses. Out of the 30 lakh houses, 4.50 lakh houses should be allocated to the Scheduled Castes as per the rules. But the state government had allocated more than 10.77 lakh houses to them, he claimed.

The government is installing a 125 feet tall statue of Dr.BR Ambedkar on land worth Rs 3000 crores in Vijayawada. The government is spending Rs 500 crore for the project, he added. Social welfare department JD Madhusudhan Rao, RDO K Penchala Kishore, and Tahsildar Somasekhar were among those who were present.
