Sudarshan takes over as Water Board MD

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director Dana Kishore was transferred to the municipal department  as a principal secretary and given additional responsibilities as Commissioner of HMDA and CMDA. In his place, C Sudarshan Reddy has been appointed as the new Managing Director of HMWSSB.
Dana Kishore, a 1996 IAS batch, took charge as the MD of Water Board on April 7, 2016. Since then, he continued as MD till December 17. He has created a record as the longest serving managing director in the history of the Water Board. He brought reforms in IT, revenue, sanitation management and drinking water supply.  With the determination to treat 100 per cent sewage in the city, construction of STPs and fecal sludge treatment plants have been initiated in his tenure.
Some important projects took shape in the board during his tenure, which are construction of 56 reservoirs in the suburbs of the city at a cost of Rs 1,900 crore through HUDCO project, nalla connection sanctioned to slum users for Rs 1 crore, One-time settlement (OTS) scheme for collection of bad debts; machine sewage treatment services were introduced in 2017 and in 2018, construction of ORR Phase-1 at Rs 770 crore and ORR Phase-2 at Rs1,200 crore were taken up.
In Dana Kishore tenure, the Water Board got many awards, which are Global Water Award, HUDCO Award, Water Conversion Award, Award of Excellence, Telangana Facility Management Award, TS iPASS, Water Plus Award, PRSI National Awards, Best Ownership Award, Amrit Technology Challenge Award, Scotch Award, World Water Award, Pollution Control Board Award, Global Innovation in Water Technology Award, Telangana State Energy Conservation Award, Telangana Excellence Award and Best Non-STP Award.
