Supporting the BJP or the Congress brings does not benefit the nation, BRS Working President KT Ramarao said in New Delhi after meeting Union Ministers as opposition parties held a meeting in Patna.

In a press conference held in New Delhi on Friday, TS Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao criticised the Central Government’s lack of support for development projects in Hyderabad.

“Today, the unity of political parties is not that important, rather it is important to unite people on issues facing the country. The Congress and the BJP are responsible for the problems our country is facing today. If political parties unite taking the BJP or the Congress along with them it will not benefit the country in any way,” he said.

“The Congress has to answer as to why they will not support this anti-federal Bill that the Centre is trying to impose on the nation, especially in the case of the Delhi government,” KTR said.

He highlighted the stalled Metro Rail expansion plans, the repeated appeals made by the TS government and the failure of both the BJP and the Congress in fostering national progress and other issues.

Expressing disappointment, KTR pointed out that despite the significant accomplishments of Telangana over the past nine years, the Centre’s contribution to Hyderabad’s development has been negligible.

KTR highlighted the State government’s repeated appeals to the Centre for cooperation in ensuring the development of Hyderabad. He expressed dissatisfaction at the complete lack of contribution from the centre to Hyderabad’s development.

KTR emphasised the urgent need for collaboration between the State and the Centre to foster growth in IT, aerospace, defence, pharma and life sciences in Hyderabad.

He also appealed to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to speed up the transfer of defence lands for road development projects in and around Hyderabad.

Emphasising the State government’s persistent appeals to the Centre over the past nine years, he expressed optimism for a positive response this time.

He also announced his scheduled meeting with the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, during which he plans to reiterate his appeal for expansion of the Metro Rail network from Lakdikapool to BHEL and from Nagole to LB Nagar. He said Detailed Project Reports were submitted to the Centre on these matters.

He said that although the State contributed its share to develop MMTS, there was no response from the Centre. KTR urged the Centre to collaborate with the State government to strengthen the public transport system in Hyderabad.

He also appealed to the Centre to support the expansion of the Metro from Patancheru to Hayat Nagar. Pointing to the allocation of Metro rail projects to nearly 10 small towns in Uttar Pradesh, KTR said that the Centre must explain why it is not supporting the expansion of the Metro Rail in Hyderabad.

He asked Union Minister Kishan Reddy to provide an explanation regarding the lack of support from the Centre during the floods in Hyderabad, while funds were readily allocated to Gujarat and other BJP-ruled states.

Highlighting the significant financial contributions made by Telangana towards the development of economically disadvantaged BJP-ruled states, KTR emphasised that BJP leaders should express gratitude to the people of Telangana and the State government for their crucial role in the nation-building process.

Pointing to the lack of support from the Centre towards Telangana in the last nine years, KTR emphasised that if the Centre fails to change its approach, the matter will be placed raised among the Telangana public.

He also mentioned the successful completion of various projects under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) and highlighted the need for approximately four acres from the Union Home Department to complete the Rasoolpura project under SRDP.

He said that despite making several appeals, Union Minister Kishan has not responded on the matter. A meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been sought to address the issue, KTR added.

Emphasizing the need for people to unite against the BJP and the Congress, he pledged to foster unity on specific issues and work towards addressing them.

He also asserted that Modi is the ‘weakest’ Prime Minister in the nation’s history and specifically pointed out that the BRS has consistently criticised Modi’s shortcomings to a greater extent than any other party.
