SVEEP drive organised for ‘first time voters’

Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Guntur and Krishna districts’ Field Publicity Officer R Ramesh Chandra has called upon the voters to fulfil their responsibility by participating in the election process by voting.
He addressed a gathering of students participating in voting for the first time in an awareness program on Voter Literacy and Participation in Elections, a part of the ‘Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation’ (SVEEP) program at Chalapathi Institute of Engineering and Technology College at Lam, Guntur.
He said that a higher percentage of voter participation would increase the responsibility of the candidates and the governments formed consequently and urged the first-time voters not only to participate in large numbers but also to take personal responsibility to increase the voter turnout in their respective constituencies.
The voter awareness programme is part of a nationwide campaign, organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with the District Election Authority, Guntur. SVEEP Nodal Officer KVV Satyanarayana appealed that every voter should exercise their right to vote to participate in the building of democratic and responsible governments.
Dr M Chandra Sekhar, Principal of Chalapati Colleges, appealed to the students to send a loud and clear message of participation in voting.  He declared an additional day of holiday for the students to facilitate a higher percentage of their students’ participation in voting on May 13.
