Pawan dismayed over just Rs 7 cr fund left in Swachh account
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj K Pawan Kalyan expressed dismay over the Swachha Andhra Corporation having only Rs 7.04 crore in its account.
Pawan Kalyan held a meeting with the officials of Panchayat Raj, rural development, RWS, environment and forest in his camp office on Wednesday and reviewed various issues.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy Chief Minister said that the Swachha Andhra Corporation had Rs 2,092.65 crore in its account in the financial year of 2020-21, and questioned why there is a paltry Rs 7.04 crore in the account now.  He asked the officials where the funds of Swachha Andhra Corporation were diverted.
Pawan Kalyan pointed out that during the financial year 2020-21, the Corporation had utilized Rs 728.35 crore and Rs 508 crore was spent during the financial year 2021-22. The Swachha Andhra Corporation had Rs 1066.36 crore funds at the end of the 2021-22 financial year but the Corporation had only Rs 3 crore in its account at the beginning of 2022-23 financial year.
The deputy Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to give an explanation on the diversion funds from the Swachha Andhra Corporation. He said that during the financial year 2022-23, the Centre had sanctioned Rs 70 crore while the state government extended Rs 20 crore funds to the Swachha Andhra Corporation of which Rs 46 crore was spent.
During the financial year 2023-24, the Swachha Andhra Corporation got Rs 239 crore funds of which Rs 209 crore was spent. Now the Swachha Andhra Pradesh Corporation has only Rs 7.04 crore in its account, he regretted.
“If the funds of Swachha Andhra Corporation are utilized properly, the objectives set for this organization can be achieved. Swachh Andhra was established as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with good intentions for public health. Keeping the funds, extended by the Center in bank accounts for months and not using them, even if interest is earned from those funds, and then diverting them to other needs is an unfortunate process done by the previous government rulers,” Pawan Kalyan deplored.
He underlined the need of examining deeply the diversion of Swachha Andhra Corporation funds to other purposes, adding that who is responsible for the same should be ascertained.
