Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma has directed the police officials to take stringent steps to curb crimes and work in a coordinated manner. The SP held a crime review meeting here on Thursday with the Eluru, Jangareddygudem, Polavaram, Nuzvid sub-divisions, and Kaikaluru circle.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP asked the police officials to oppress with an iron hand those who create law and order problems. The SP warned the police officials of stringent action if laxity or indifference are found in discharging duties and in maintaining law and order by the police personnel.

The SP said that every police officer should be responsible for registering cases. If the police officials think that the responsibility ends after registering the cases and sending them to the court, is a mistake as their responsibility ends only when they conduct a full investigation and show accurate evidence to the court. Police officials should strive hard to ensure that the guilty are punished by the court.

The SP told the police officials to oppress with an iron hand the illegal sale, transportation, and consumption of ganja, illicit liquor, banned tobacco products, and other intoxicated substances in the district.

He also directed them to conduct checking of vehicles on the highway, and conduct a face wash drive for vehicle drivers to avoid road accidents. He told them to monitor road safety mobiles to prevent road accidents.

In order to prevent burglaries and thefts, awareness should be created among the people to use LHMS. The night and day police patrolling should be intensified at the places which are vulnerable to crimes. As soon as a complaint is received against the harassment of women, action should be initiated immediately and justice should be done to the victims by the police officials concerned, the SP said.

SP Rahul Dev Sharma said that all measures should be taken for the police constable has written examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Level Police Recruitment to ensure that there is no malpractice in the said examinations.

District Special Enforcement Bureau Additional SP N Surya Chandra Rao, Eluru in-charge DSP GVS Paideswara Rao, In-charge Jangareddygudem DSP KV Satyanarayana, Polavaram DSP Latha Kumari, Nuzvid DSP Ashok Kumar Goud, SB Inspector V Ravikumar and other officials were among those who were present.
