In the Police Department, which is unobtrusively policed by political masters, transfers of inspectors typically happen at the behest of powerful politicos with accompanying letters of recommendation or follow-up phone calls to the higher authorities concerned. Things at the core are no different under the new Congress government. Like in the past, MLAs are still behind the movements of inspectors. The only difference now is that the MLAs are asked not to give letters, but to follow up only with oral instructions. Since supersensitive cops had sensed regime change much before the Assembly polls, let alone the announcement of final tally, some of the ambitious cops used their chance to go tough on then BRS MLAs. They are expecting rewarding posts now.
