In a major welfare move marking the completion of one year in office by the coalition government, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the launch of the ‘Tallikii Vandanam’ scheme, a flagship initiative under the TDP’s ‘Super Six’ promises. The scheme will be formally rolled out on Thursday, June 12.
Under this initiative, the Andhra Pradesh government will disburse Rs 8,745 crore as a tribute to mothers, directly benefiting 67 lakh school and college-going students. The funds will be transferred to the bank accounts of their mothers.
Each school-going child will be eligible for Rs 15,000 annually under the scheme. It also covers students newly admitted to Class 1 and Intermediate First Year. Once the admission process concludes and student data is available, the respective amounts will be credited to mothers.
An official release on Wednesday stated that the Government Order (G.O.) outlining the operational framework of the scheme has been issued. However, it remains unclear whether the current disbursal pertains to the 2024–25 or 2025–26 academic year.
‘Talliki Vandanam’ joins other implemented welfare measures such as pension enhancement, Anna Canteens, Mega DSC, and the Deepam-2 scheme, all part of the ‘Super Six’ manifesto unveiled ahead of the 2024 polls.
