Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has accused the chiefs of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP), Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan respectively, of spreading false information and deliberate negative propaganda against the administration of the Tirumala shrine.
Addressing the media on Friday, Swamy expressed his concern over the opposition leaders’ actions.
He alleged that Naidu and Pawan Kalyan were intentionally disseminating lies in order to hurt the sentiments of Hindus. He specifically pointed out that both leaders were baselessly accusing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and its trust, Srivani Trust, of misappropriating funds under the government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
According to Swamy, Naidu’s political isolation and failures have pushed him to resort to such tactics of undermining Hindu sentiments. He criticised Naidu for making unfounded claims that the TTD and the Jagan-led government were involved in promoting Christian conversions. Swamy also accused Pawan Kalyan of engaging in similar malicious propaganda.
Swamy mentioned that he is representing the TTD in a defamation case against Andhra Jyothi newspaper, which currently faces both criminal and civil charges. He warned Naidu and Pawan Kalyan that they would face a similar fate for their actions, as they are being charged with promoting religious hatred. Swamy advised Naidu to concentrate on political matters and questioned his sudden transformation into a champion of Hindus after aligning with Sonia Gandhi in the previous election. He urged Naidu to substantiate his allegations against the TTD and the Srivani Trust with evidence or refrain from spreading false propaganda.
Satya Sabharwal, the counsel for the TTD, was also present.
