TDP MLA Yarlagadda levels graft charges against Vijaya Dairy chief

Must read

In a dramatic turn of events, ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao from Gannavaram has levelled serious allegations against senior party leader Chalasani Anjaneyulu, who also serves as the Chairman of the Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Society Limited (Vijaya Dairy). Venkata Rao accused Anjaneyulu of engaging in corruption and colluding with leaders from the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and his political rival, former MLA Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan.
Addressing a press conference at his office in Gurunanak Nagar, Vijayawada, on Saturday, MLA Venkata Rao expressed his concerns about alleged irregularities in the allocation of Vijaya Dairy parlours and outlets. He claimed to possess evidence of these corrupt practices and noted that Anjaneyulu had not met him since assuming his role as Gannavaram in charge.
The MLA further alleged that Anjaneyulu was maintaining close ties with YSRCP leaders while making unfounded accusations against him. He accused the Vijaya Dairy Chairman of prioritising the allotment of dairy outlets to YSRCP leaders and their associates, asserting that out of 47 milk parlours, 30 had been allocated to members of the opposition party.
In light of these allegations, MLA Venkata Rao called on the state government to initiate a thorough investigation into the affairs of Vijaya Dairy. He urged the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Vigilance and Enforcement Department to conduct a probe to unveil any irregularities committed by Chalasani Anjaneyulu.
“I have sought an appointment with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to provide details about Anjaneyulu’s activities in the Gannavaram constituency, including his connections with YSRCP leaders and Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan,” he stated. The MLA also claimed that Anjaneyulu had instructed an Intelligence SI to investigate him, which he plans to raise with the Chief Minister. Venkata Rao expressed disappointment over Anjaneyulu’s lack of involvement in TDP’s development in the district, suggesting that he only assumed the chairmanship of the Dairy in 2019 due to political changes. He urged the government to conduct an enquiry in the interest of Vijaya Dairy and TDP.
Additionally, Venkata Rao reflected on his tenure as Chairman of the Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank (KDCCB), highlighting a remarkable 43% growth during his 13 months in office—a feat he claimed no other DCCB in the country has achieved. He has also requested an enquiry into the KDCCB’s operations over the past five years.
Looking ahead, the MLA announced plans to advocate for the relocation of the IIIT Gachibowli campus to Gannavaram, emphasising his commitment to the development of the Industrial Park and the Gannavaram constituency.
