A techie, who allegedly bought narcotics through dark web was arrested in Khammam in Telangana State on Saturday.
The Khammam police arrested the software engineer based on a tip-off. The sleuths of Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau tracked the software engineer placing order for narcotics through dark web, according to police.
The techie, who was not identified by the police, allegedly placed an order on dark web on July 31 and paid using crypto currency.
On the input provided by the Technical Wing of Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), the sleuths of Regional Narcotics Control Centre (RNCC) in Khammam with the assistance of Khammam II Town Police nabbed the Software Engineer in Khammam town. He had placed an order through dark web on July 31 and paid for it using crypto currency. The vendor of the said dark web delivered the drug to techie from Silpukhuri of Assam state through Speed Post and shared the Consignment number to the said person.
The sleuths of RNCC Khammam kept track of the consignment and were successful in nabbing techie red-handedly when he received the consignment at his residence on August 8 through Speed post. The drug was concealed under brown tape on the newspaper. Further, the sleuths of RNCC sleuths, during the investigation, according to police, found that the software engineer was addicted to drugs.
Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau officials appealed to youth and students not to fall prey to drugs.
