What was meant to be a fun-filled holiday for a group of students took a devastating turn when a teenage girl tragically drowned at Sivasagar beach, while another girl displayed incredible bravery to rescue her.
According to local authorities, a group of students had gathered at the picturesque Sivasagar beach on a sunny Sunday to make the most of their vacation. Eager to enjoy the sea, they decided to take a dip in its waters.
However, this adventure took a tragic turn when 13-year-old Sanku Akshay found herself in distress and submerged beneath the waves.
Kintada Rajeswari, displaying immense courage and quick thinking, rushed to the aid of her drowning friend. Unfortunately, both girls were in danger, but their desperate situation did not go unnoticed. Local fishermen who were nearby swiftly came to their rescue, pulling them to safety on the shore.
Tragically, Akshay succumbed to the ordeal and was pronounced dead. In contrast, Rajeswari, after being pulled from the sea, was immediately transported to Palasa Hospital in an ambulance. She is currently receiving medical attention, and her condition is being closely monitored.
Local law enforcement has initiated an investigation into this heart-wrenching incident, registering a case and making arrangements for Akshay’s postmortem examination.
