A third conference organized by the Telangana Lecturers Forum (TLF) was held on Monday to address the status of education in Telangana. The chief guest, M.V. Gona Reddy, an educationist, CEO of the Komatireddy Prateek Foundation, and Chairman of the Telangana Development Forum, emphasized the need for reforms in the education system in line with Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals – 2030, which advocates for “inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
Gona Reddy stated that there is a need to regulate the commercialization of education caused by corporate educational institutions, particularly CHINA (Chaitanya and Narayana). He urged teachers and teacher unions to take initiatives for meaningful reforms in the education system.
TLF Chairman Katti Venkata Swamy, TRSMA adviser Kandala Papi Reddy, and Professor Anjireddy criticised the education policies of the KCR government, stating that the neglect of government educational institutions and budget schools and colleges has led to an increase in dropout rates.
Ultimately, the conference unanimously resolved to request the Chief Minister to fill all vacancies, increase budgetary allocations, and develop infrastructure in the public-funded education system.
They also demanded the government assist teachers and lecturers working in private budget schools and colleges.
The TLF honoured Gona Reddy for his tireless efforts in strengthening the public-funded education system and supporting students and teachers.
